Firefighting as an organized form of combating the fire element occurs in Nuštar very early in relation to other villages in the Vinkovci-Vukovar area. In 1891, when Mato Domaćinović was appointed municipal notary and often went to Vukovar for that position, the local firefighters advised him that a fire brigade should be set up in Nuštar, and they were willing to come and learn initial exercises and help the association in general. All this lasted for about two years, and in 1893. Mato Domaćinović sought advice from the parish priest of Nuštar, the Rev. Florian Činček, the landowner Karel Dolanski and the teacher Franjo Štiglmajer regarding the organization of the fire brigade. Then Master Stiglmayer convened a founding meeting, on April 25, 1893, for all the craftsmen and a number of other locals. The response was pretty good. Then the first board was elected and that day can be considered the day of the founding of DVD Nuštar. Florijan Činček, the parish priest and MP from Nuštar, was elected the first president, Franjo Štiglmajer the secretary, Antun Weber the treasurer, and Franjo Lukač the minister. In addition to the above, the committee consisted of: Commander Dragutin Dolanski, Deputy Commander Mato Domaćinović, Assistant Hinko Šliter, Trainer Franjo Kiš, Department Commanders Antun Švager, Šandor Bela, Antun Majer and Ignjat Baum. At that time, the society had 38 members
