Profesionalno vatrogastvo u Zadru ima dugu tradiciju, a pod današnjim nazivom i ustrojem djeluje od 28. prosinca 1999. godine, kada je Poglavarstvo Grada Zadra osnovalo Javnu vatrogasnu postrojbu Grada Zadra. Sjedište Vatrogasne postrojbe je u Zadru, Put Murvice 24. Sukladno Zakonu o vatrogastvu, Javna vatrogasna postrojba Grada Zadra obavlja vatrogasnu djelatnost, odnosno sudjeluje u provedbi preventivnih mjera zaštite od požara i eksplozija, gašenja požara i spašavanja ljudi i imovine ugroženih požarom i eksplozijom, pružanje tehničke pomoći u nezgodama i opasnim situacijama te obavlja i druge poslove u ekološkim i inim nesrećama. Ovu djelatnost obavljaju vatrogasci, posebno osposobljeni i uvježbani da bi mogli odgovoriti na svaku situaciju koja zahtijeva njihov angažman. JVP Grada Zadra zapošljava 107 djelatnika raspoređenih u dvije postaje (80 u postaji Centar i 27 u postaji Gaženica). Od ukupnog broja zaposlenih, 100 su operativni djelatnici, odnosno profesionalni vatrogasci, a ostali obavljaju pravne, administrativne, računovodstveno financijske poslove, te poslove spremačica. Vatrogasna služba organizirana je u 4 smjene, po 12 sati, danju i noću. U prosjeku imamo preko 900 intervencija godišnje. Neprestano se usavršavamo, a u skladu s mogućnostima i opremamo, kako bismo bili sposobni uspješno izvršavati naše zadaće.

The headquarters of the Fire Brigade is in Zadar, Put Murvice 24. Pursuant to the Fire Act, the Public Fire Brigade of the City of Zadar performs firefighting activities, ie participates in the implementation of preventive measures against fire and explosion, firefighting and rescue of people and property endangered by fire and explosion, providing technical assistance in accidents and dangerous situations and performs other jobs in environmental and other disasters. This activity is performed by firefighters, specially trained and trained to be able to respond to any situation that requires their involvement. The Public Utility Company of the City of Zadar employs 107 employees deployed in two stations (80 at the Centar station and 27 at the Gaženica station). Out of the total number of employees, 100 are operational employees, ie professional firefighters, and the rest perform legal, administrative, accounting and financial tasks, as well as cleaning services. The fire service is organized in 4 shifts, 12 hours each, day and night. On average, we have over 900 interventions a year. We are constantly improving, and in accordance with the possibilities, we are equipping ourselves in order to be able to successfully perform our tasks.
