In the 1990s, the leaders of the town of Ogulin noticed the need to establish a professional fire brigade in order to raise the fire brigade to a higher level. By establishing a professional unit, the security of the residents of our region and the security of their property would increase. By undertaking a series of activities, a permit was obtained for the establishment of a Professional Fire Brigade in our city. 09/02/2096 year in Ogulin, a fire station was established. At that time, it was a branch office of the Karlovac Fire Brigade, and we operated within the Croatian Ministry of the Interior, the fire department. In addition to their regular activities, the employees of the fire station have also started retraining for the title of Fire Technician. We often went from classes to interventions, but despite all the difficulties, we completed our retraining and continued working at the Ogulin fire station. We have been operating within the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia until 1 January 2000, when, pursuant to the Fire Act, firefighters from the Ministry of the Interior came under the jurisdiction of the Local Self-Government Units. The unit is registered as a public institution and continues to operate under the name Public Fire Brigade Ogulin (JVP Ogulin). JVP Ogulin operates in the area of the town of Ogulin and, if necessary, in the area of neighboring municipalities: Josipdol, Plaški, Saborsko and Tounj. The area of operation is very large, about 1077 km². The terrain is neglected and partly contaminated with mines, which makes it difficult to extinguish open fires and puts firefighters in great danger when extinguishing open fires. The headquarters of the unit are located in the very center of the town of Ogulin at Bernandina Frankopana 18. The premises used by the JVP are in the Fire House of the Ogulin DVD. The home is shared by JVP Ogulin, DVD Ogulin, PVZ Ogulin. At the back of the House on the ground floor are the premises of HGSS Ogulin and the service of fire extinguishers. The Ogulin Public Fire Brigade employs 23 (twenty-three people), of which 21 (operative), a preventive service analyst and a cleaner. The work is organized in a 24-hour shift, and is done 12-24, 12-48. Employees who have completed their shift are in passive preparation for another 12 hours.
