Voluntary fire brigade Zlatar Bistrica was founded in 1926, operates in the municipality of Zlatar Bistrica and, if necessary, in the former municipality of Zlatar Bistrica. The immediate reason for the establishment of the Voluntary Fire Brigade Zlatar Bistrica was the fire near Durinek Stjepan in 1925. Then the respectable husbands of Zlatar Bistrica realized that they could only enter the fight against the fire in an organized manner. One year after the fire broke out, on August 5, 1926, the Voluntary Fire Brigade called DVD Zlatar Bistrica-Kolodvor was founded, and the first leadership of the society consisted of: Milan Weiss-president, Dragutin Čoban-vice president, Ivan Andrec-duke, Janko Andrec -trainer, Antun Jakušic- second trainee, and trumpeters Antun Kuštovic and Ruda Buntak. As it is today, so it was 80 years ago. With the funds of numerous donors and financial contributions from other locals, the basic and most necessary firefighting equipment was procured. Already in 1927. a hand-held fire hydrant and 300 meters of fire hoses were procured. With the purchase of this basic equipment, there was a problem with its storage, and the gathering place of the then leadership of the company of thirteen members. There was a need to build a fire station. In 1929, the construction of a fire station began, and in 1930 the home was completed. For the 10th anniversary of the founding of the society in 1936, the society ordered a representative fire flag from the nuns in Zagreb, in which about 40 kg of silk was used. The flag bears over two hundred nails with heads engraved with the names and surnames of the donor of the contribution for making the flag. This pearl of firefighting inventory should not have stood out during the past system, but firefighters have stored and preserved it very carefully, so it is the pride of society.
