Dobrovoljno vatrogasno društvo Strmec Podravski osnovano je 19.rujna 1937. godine na inicijativu mještana, većinom članova Šumske zajednice Strmec. Već 1938. godine kupuju prvu motornu vatrogasnu štrcaljku. Nakon izgradnje Zadružnog doma 1948. godine, Društvo u istome dobiva jednu prostoriju na korištenje da bi 1950. bilo dograđeno vatrogasno spremište, a godinu kasnije i vatrogasni toranj. 1973. godine trošna zaprežna kola koja su služila za prijevoz opreme bivaju zamijenjena kombi vozilom marke IMV.

DVD Strmec Podravski posjeduje malo vatrogasno vozilo Ford Traffic iz 2008. godine. Godišnje u prosjeku odrade oko pet intervencija, najviše tehničkih koje se odnose na ispumpavanje vode za vrijeme jakih kiša na kritičnim područjima u Strmcu Podravskom ali i Romskom naselju. Prije nekoliko godina započeli su suradnju sa PGD-om Velika Nedelja iz Slovenije a odlična suradnja postoji i sa DVD-ima iz susjednih općina. DVD Strmec Podravski uz operativno članstvo ima i natjecateljsku desetinu u muškoj te ženskoj kategoriji a od 2018. u društvo je učlanjeno i dvadesetak djece.
The voluntary fire brigade Strmec Podravski was founded on September 19, 1937 at the initiative of the locals, mostly members of the Strmec Forest Community. As early as 1938, they bought the first motorized fire hydrant. After the construction of the Cooperative Home in 1948, the Society received one room to use, and in 1950 a fire station was added, and a year later a fire tower. In 1973, the dilapidated carriage used to transport equipment was replaced by an IMV van. On average, they perform about five interventions a year, mostly technical ones related to the pumping of water during heavy rains in critical areas in Strmec Podravski and the Roma settlement. A few years ago, they started cooperation with PGD Velika Nedelja from Slovenia and there is excellent cooperation with DVDs from neighboring municipalities. DVD Strmec Podravski, in addition to its operational membership, also has a competitive tenth in the men's and women's categories, and since 2018, about twenty children have joined the society.
