DVD Gornji Desinec was founded in 1929. Along with 25 operational members, the society counts 42 executive members, 9 veterans, 5 supporting members, 1 honorary member, 65 other members, and 39 children and youth members. It is one of the nine headquarters (core) societies within the Firefighters Association of the City of Jastrebarsko (VZGJ). The governing bodies of the society are the Command, led by the Fire Chief; the Management Board, led by the President (who also serves as the President of the Society); and the Supervisory Board. Operational members of the society regularly participate in joint drills within the 4th Operational Area and take part in tactical firefighting competitions. The society has both male and female children's divisions, as well as a female youth division, which won third place at the County Competition in 2015 and will be the sole representative from the VZGJ area at the National Competition next year. The facilities of the fire station in Gornji Desinec are among the best-equipped in the City of Jastrebarsko area, thanks to the renovation of the large hall in 2013, and the transformation of the former ground-floor kitchen space into the so-called "Club" in 2015, which serves for smaller, informal gatherings of members and other local residents. Alongside regular maintenance of the fire station building and its surroundings, the society carries out a variety of activities; notably, during Fire Prevention Month, children from the Desinec District School visit the fire station to learn about firefighting activities through play.
